The 8th Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China on May 15th, 2014. The forum was themed at Maritime Silk Road of 21st Century with six Parallel Sessions: 1) Maritime Silk Road of 21st century: Strategy, key area and approach; 2) Model innovation of cross-border investment; 3) The 4th Think Tank Summit; 4) Investment and finance system on industry and infrastructure; 5) Port cooperation & SEAL-NET; 6) Cooperation and innovation of cultural industry.
The 4th Think Tank Summit, which was hosted by CDI, gathered renowned experts and scholars from PBG think tanks including The East Asian Institute, NUS; Central Institute for Economic Management, Vietnam; Asia Strategy and Leadership Institute, Malaysia; Institute of Strategic & International Studies, Malaysia; Philippine Institute for Development Studies; Thailand Development Research Institute; Chinese Academy of Social Science; Chinese Society of Economic Reform; Ocean University of China; China-ASEAN Research Institute etc.
Under the theme of “Linkage •Mutual Prosperity: New Partnership in New Century”, experts and scholars discussed about cooperation mechanism: optimizing & integration and regional cooperation and Maritime Silk Road. They reached a consensus and launched “Report of Discussion Initiative on Building the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st Century, PBG Think Tanks”.
